Kansas City Federation of Teachers Local 691 thwart Rhee’s e-lobby day

Written by Kansas City Federation of Teachers. Read the entire post here.
Not only did we pack the house (with less than 24 hours notice), but our members spoke eloquently and passionately about our students and the negative impact that the charter school and the anti-due process legislation would have on our district and our children.

Although the district had set up 50 computers with guest access to the wireless network, only a handful of parents showed up, and StudentsFirst obviously decided not to have the audience get on the computers. They quickly realized that if our members got on the computers, they would be writing in opposition to the bills StudentsFirst supported [on tenure, charter expansion, and parent trigger].
